Your Glucose Meter
How Often Should I Check My Blood Sugar?
This can vary by your health condition and needs. Most patients check once daily (fasting) or twice daily (fasting and after a meal). If you are unsure, follow your provider’s instructions or contact the care team.
Fasting reading:
Check first thing in the morning, before eating or drinking anything other than water.
After-meal reading (if instructed):
Check 2 hoursafter the start of your meal.

Before You Use Your Meter for the First Time
Please charge your glucose meter for at least 8 hours before using it for the first time. This helps protect the battery and keeps your meter working properly. Before You Use Your Meter for the First Time After the initial charge, most patients only need to recharge the meter about once a month.

Meter Messages
The meter will count down from 5 to 0 seconds
After 5 seconds your blood glucose result will be displayed. Don’t be surprised if the screen goes darkshortly after your reading. This is normal and helps save battery life. ⚠️ Important: Do not press the power button after taking a reading
The meter sends your reading to your care team. Even though the screen is dark, your meter may still be sending your result to our care team. Turning it off too soon could prevent us from receiving your reading. Simply take your reading and set the meter down. It will take care of the rest.
